EOTW Speakers wow local government conference

September 3rd, 2008

The Local Government Web Network, a NSW-based organisation for web site coordinators, held a two day conference on the 21st and 22nd of August. The lineup of speakers included four talented individuals who will also be speaking at the Edge of the Web conference in Perth this November – and from all accounts, the topics were all very well received.

On the first day, Cameron Adams impressed the delegates with a plenery session on Working With Design. Cameron will be speaking at EOTW on Designing with Creative Code and running a workshop, Frontiers of JavaScript. Also on the first day of LGWN, Russ Weakley presented on Efficient, maintainable, modular CSS. Russ’ EOTW session will be about his work at the Australian Museum, titled Pushing the boundaries on content-rich websites.

The second day of LGWN featured an opening keynote by Ben BuchananSteering the glacier: how does one person have an impact? Ben’s EOTW session will be a different take on a similar topic - Hacking Humans: Advocating for a better web. Finally, Tim Lucas presented Just Building It, An Introduction to Ruby on Rails at LGWN. Tim’s EOTW topic will be another one close to his heart, Developing for the iPhone.

Thanks go to former Perth gal Ruth Ellison for her excellent write up of the event. Hope to see you at Edge of the Web, Ruth!
