About the Edge of the Web Conference
The Edge of the Web conference is a brought to you by the Australian Web Industry Association and Red Horizon Events.
Edge of the Web 2008 aims to set a benchmark in the West Australian web development community as a hallmark event on the Perth calendar. The conference program offers a diverse range of leading edge and highly topical content focusing on key areas of current web development best practise, such as usability and accessibility and current web trends such as social networking and open data exchange.
Edge of the Web includes a one day, two track conference on Thursday 6th November and a day of technical workshops on Friday 7th November. AWIA have secured an outstanding line up of international and national speakers to present at the conference and like the WA Web Awards, AWIA’s Edge of the Web Conference will establish itself as a ‘must attend’ annual event.
About AWIA
The Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA) was formed in 2004 as Port 80 Inc, a not-for-profit association which aims to:
- Further the advancement of the web industry within Australia
- Educate the general public about the role of professionals in the web industry
- Foster greater ties with like-minded organisations
AWIA works to fulfill these goals though regular networking meetings, speaking events throughout the year, and over the past three years, the WA Web Awards. The inaugural Edge of the Web conference in 2008 is the next big step forward for AWIA.
About Red Horizon Events
Red Horizon Events create, develop and project manage new and exciting event concepts for the West Australian marketplace. These events include business to business events (e.g. Conferences) and Business to Consumer Events (e.g. Consumer Exhibitions). The company brings together all of the elements required to deliver a successful business event end to end including; project management and planning, marketing and promotion, sponsorship strategy and development, venue sourcing and management, logistics, delegate and speaker management, audio/visual, registration and database management, financial planning and management, event evaluation and reporting.
The company was formed out of a partnership between Jan Bryson and Rebecca Taplin. Both partners have been in the IT Industry for over 15 years and have developed a passion and enthusiasm for Event Management managing a number of large scale special events over the past 7 years.
About the WA Web Awards
The WA Web Awards is the only awards event of it’s kind in Australia - focusing on recognising and rewarding excellent work in the web site design and development fields in Western Australia. The WAWAs program is unique in that judging criteria is based on current industry best practise, and aims to raise the standards of commercial web site work to the highest level.
In addition, the annual WAWAs presentation dinner has become, in its short three-year history, the must-attend event on the Perth web industry social calendar.
